Conflict Minerals Policy

SPF America is committed to responsibly sourcing materials used in our facility. Although not directly required to comply with conflict minerals reporting requirements, we understand our role in the supply chain of our customers. SPF America feels obligated to not knowingly contribute to human rights violations through sourcing of our materials.

It is SPF America's policy to not knowingly use 'conflict minerals' sourced from the conflict region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries in the parts and assemblies we manufacture for customers.

Based on a reasonable inquiry of our suppliers, to our knowledge, the parts and assemblies we manufacture for customers do not use "conflict minerals" originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and surrounding countries.

The History

SPF America began in 2012 as a merger between Mid-West Enamelers, Inc. and CopperFab. The core company was founded by Basil C. Brock in 1977 and quickly became a full service metal fabrication and finishing facility servicing the copier, telex, computer, telecommunication, and tier one government contractor markets.

Throughout the 90s, management placed a major effort on fabricating and plating copper busbar. It was in 1997 that CopperFab was formed to help market copper products to the telecommunications and industrial battery markets.

Through Brock’s work experience from Hughes Aircraft and the Army, he was inspired to open his first sheet metal fabrication business known as B&F Sheet Metal in the late 1950's in Los Angeles, California. As he attempted to retire in Clarksville, Arkansas in 1972, he realized the potential for business and jobs in North West Arkansas.

Today, we continue to produce quality, precision manufactured parts for our customer's needs both locally and nationwide. It is in his honor that SPF America is dedicated to him as our founder and leader.

Continuous Improvement

We are committed to being the preferred supplier in our industry by providing products to our customers that meet their expectations through a continual process of improvement. Our program aims to improve all processes in terms of safety, quality, service, efficiency, organized work spaces, ease of work, and accessibility for our workers.

In order to offer our customers the highest value, quality, delivery, and service, SPF America lives and practices Continuous Improvement through a variety of lean manufacturing principals. We believe that the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value to be wasteful. In utilizing this program as a production practice, we target and eliminate the actions and processes in our workflow that do not add any value for the customer or end product.

Our employees and staff are committed to the concept of continuous product and process improvement and the elimination of non-value added activities, as well as, improving the flow of material through new ideal system layouts at our customer's required rate, thus reducing waste in material movement and inventory.

Here are some tools we use for CI:
  • 5S is the foundation we use to improve our processes. This tool helps us deliver higher quality parts faster to you, as well as keep our competitive pricing.

  • Value Stream Mapping helps us to analyze our production, assuring value in every step our production. This is how we give our customers the best price and precision simultaneously.

  • Key Performance Indicators help us to measure customer support, quality, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

  • Kanban is an inventory management tool that ensures reliable delivery times and throughput.

  • Our Quick Die Change System helps us to decrease lead time and increase flexibility for our customers.

  • Total Productive Manufacturing aims to increase the longevity and efficiency of machinery. This ensures that our machines will be able to service us and our customers efficiently for as long as possible.

  • First In, First Out ensures our customers are serviced in order.

  • By designing workplace “cells”, we are helping our workers thrive within their processes. This ensures faster production and higher quality products.
